Ted
Collins, trading as New Home Inspections, is widely
recognized as the Washington, DC area's leading
expert in the inspection of new residential construction.
His experience in the construction industry over
the past 30 years includes 20 years as a builder,
contractor and site development and 10 years as
a building consultant/home inspector. For the past
10 years, he has specialized exclusively in the
inspection of new homes. He has become so widely
known for the thoroughness of his inspections and
reports that he has been called upon to help train
other professional inspectors. Ted has had appearances
on FOX and Discovery TV performing home inspections.
Some builders and realtors try to discourage their buyers from having one of Ted's inspections, apparently because he uncovers so many significant construction defects causing the builders considerable expense and embarrassment. Several of these same builders and their subcontractors have, however, quietly sent their friends to Ted for inspections by saying, "We hate to receive Ted Collins's reports, but if you want the best inspection on a new house he is definitely the inspector to get." He believes that you have to look at the construction of your home as business.
Ted is licensed by the State of Virginia and is a member of the International Code Council. He holds a BS in Construction Engineering Technology. He has been certified by the Commonwealth of Virginia as a qualified code inspector in the areas of building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing and by the International Code Council (ICC) as a qualified code inspector in these same areas. Ted has inspected 4500 new homes in Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, North Carolina, and the District of Columbia. He has also testified as an expert witness in numerous court cases involving new construction. Houses are complicated so hire the best!
